Push back Racking Systems - SSI Schaefer

Navatan World Fruits Co. Ltd. is one of the leading importer, wholesaler, and distributor of premium fruits and vegetables from USA, Australia, and other parts of the globe. Fruits such as apples, oranges, strawberries, grapes, pears, and peaches are stored in NVT’s intermediate storage facility situated in Dusit, Bangkok, before distributing to local stores country-wide.

Project objectives

  • To maximise warehouse capacity
  • To achieve 100% selectivity
  • To operate in Last-In-First-Out inventory control

Scope of supply and services

Due to increasing business demands, the third party logistics company approached SSI SCHAEFER requesting for a custom made warehouse solution for a more efficient material handling operation.

To maintain the freshness and premium product quality of imported fruits and vegetables, SSI SCHAEFER implemented the Push Back and Selective Pallet Racking System. Push Back Racking uses cart system, allowing for easy and accessible Last-In-First-Out (LIFO) inventory management. This high density storage with high selectivity facilitates faster picking rates that are suitable for fresh produce with limited shelf life. SSI SCHAEFER provided NVT with standard carts for bulky and heavy items, and customised cart designs for weak pallets, non-standard pallets, or any other special pallets and containers.

With a total of 771 pallet locations, the racking systems are able to store a variety of SKUs on different levels of lanes for easy product access. The entire solution facilitates good stock rotation and has helped prevent costly product damage.
