Sidel Distribution setup its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) blow-moulding machine production plant at Shah Alam, Selangor with an initial investment of over 10 million Euros (RM 46M), in an effort to further enhance production capacity and overall global positioning.

The production facility in Malaysia is the company’s second major manufacturing centre after France. The plant will increase its production capacity by 40% to 120 machines per year from the current 70.

Sidel, which manufactures low and medium output blow-moulding machines for PET bottle production, began operating in Malaysia more than 10 years ago. Since opening its first local assembly plant in 1996, Sidel has manufactured over 500 machines, that were sold globally.

The new facility would strengthen the group’s ability to procure parts and sub-assemblies locally through partners in Malaysia and neighbouring countries. Sidel aimed to become the “undisputed” world leader in packaging lines and equipment for beverages in glass, plastics and cans.

Covering 11,000 sqm, the new Sidel plant was installed with selective pallet racking, cantilever racks and on-line shelving from SSI SCHAEFER, who planned and proposed the optimized storage solution to store all the various machinery parts.
